Other than that, I do a backup about every 3 months, and keep the last 2 or 3, deleting the oldest ones.

Also, before you are about to install some big new program, and after the install went fine and you are satisfied. The best time to do a backup is when everything is working fine. If you just lost some individual files, you can also selectively restore just them from the backup. If it ever comes to that, just ask for help here on the forum. If you ever have to restore the entire C:\ drive you will need to insert the Acronis disk and reboot the machine. Check "Run Task Now" on the bottom and hit proceed. The next box is a summary of what you have set up. Next box, I don't enter a password or select encription. Next box, files to exclude, I don't exclude any. Hit Next, I check "Do not Schedule" because I am running the task manually. I name the backup file with the date, for example "D:\Acronis Backups\9.24.14.tib" (without the quotes). Then hit next on the bottom of the box and it will bring up the next box where you specify which drive the backup will be stored under "Backup Location". It will identify all of your partitions (Drives) and you click which one you want (C:\ drive). Once you launch the program, click on "Backup and Restore" and the backup wizard pops up. I am using True Image 2009 so your version may be slightly different.

For my audio drive on my Pro Tools Computer I do not use it, it is easier to simply drag (Copy) individual session files over to an external drive used just for backups. I use it to back up my C:\ drives on all of my computers. Hi Terry, True Image is pretty easy to use, especially if you stick to the basic features. Sweetwater has told me that there is no problems with their pc's and that they are purpose built for recording! Now I am having outputs appear that have HD auto something or other as the output selection.(I'm not at my DAW right now so I hope this explanation is clear). Lately I am unable to operate due to interruptions such as DAE errors with only a bare minimum of audio tracks and no plug ins! Also, and this is strange, I have always recorded one track at a time, with line one as the input and main out L & R as the output.
I rarely go on the internet, Only when absolutely necessary. Obviously, if I were to use the Seagate, I wouldn't want to delete it from the drive but on the other hand, if I went with something else, I would think you would want to delete it? Sorry for my confusion, just trying to do what is best.With no virus protection as recommended in the Pro Tools set up items, how can one tell if they have contracted a virus when strange things start to occur?

Confused that Acronis True Image is free to Seagate users but also confused about whether or not to use the Seagate software or Windows software. It just says, on the box, bacup your computer with included software. I guess I am just confused as to what backup software I should use. I am wondering if that is cloud storage as well. Says Desktop Storage with Integrated USB Hub and is Bundled with Rescue Service, says peace of mind includes 2 year data recovery services. My new backup drive is a 6TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub.
There seems to be a great abundance of Backup software available so no excuse for not getting with the plan. My old 2015 Acronis is still held in reserve just in case Macrium gets unruly. Yes, I knew of the Seagate Acronis freebee.
